HAUL & REVIEW: Graphic Tee Shirts from Teepublic and Redbubble

Because some part of me thinks that money grows on trees I treated myself to eight brand spanking new tee shirts from online manufacturers.  I first ordered five from Teepublic as they were having a sale (all tees $14USD) and a few days later I ordered three from Redbubble for the same reason (20% off).  You can never have too many signs that you're a fangirl, right?

So Teepublic arrived first which is as I expected.  I received Order confirmation on the 16th June and on the 20th Shipping confirmation.  My package arrived on July 1st.

As mentioned Redbubble was ordered a few days after, Order confirmation on the 20th and I received Shipping confirmation on the 22nd June.  This package came on July 5th.

Overall I'm happy with the wait time I experienced though I started to become concerned that the Redbubble order wouldn't come (it came a day later than it should have).  Both companies' shipping was fairly expensive but not exorbitant.  Teepublics was $19.99 for eight shirts (I ordered a further three that aren't mine) and Redbubble's was $15.24 for the three.

Just as a tip remember to check if the prices are listed in your own or another currency.  I thought that Redbubble was in USD, making it seem much more expensive that Teepublic when in reality it was AUD and thus very similar.

Now for the shirts! As you read note I am a 5'5" (165cm) woman with a moderate-large bust (>90cm) and a medium build. I am usually an Australian women's 10 or 12.

Wall-Y by Andre_Mikz

Details: Small Male in Slate
Such a cute shirt.  Just so damn cute.  I ordered slate because it made the print pop.  If you don't get the reference let me explain: most will get that the style is that of Pixar's Wall-E which was an endearing 3D animation in 2008.  The crossover is with Kid Flash and Artemis from a 2010 DC animated series, Young Justice.  The series is an absolute favourite of mine which was unfortunately not renewed after its second season.  There are recent hopes that it may be renewed on Netflix as the series is trending there and the producers and cast have expressed interest.  The shirt itself is a little long because it is made for men but it fits to my liking, tighter on top and looser in my mid-section.

Detective Quotes by TomTrager

Yes I am also a fan of the (in)famous Sherlock.  No I don't think Benedict Cumberbatch is a stunning specimen, I just love his character (and he seems like a cool guy and a good actor).  The quotes are on point, I won't go in to all of them, please check out the link if you want to read them.  I ordered this blue because it reminded me of his scarf in the series and I just plain like blue.  The fit up top is ace, it does cling to my upper legs as it's long for my height but it doesn't make me look any larger than I am.

I couldn't cut out half the team, could I?  This shirt fits exactly the same as the previous, I love the quotes included and I love the maroon.

Save Young Justice by Young Justice Needs A Season 3
https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/180796-save-young-justice-print-by-young-justice-needs-a-

Details: Large Female in Teal
This is another Young Justice shirt, more direct than the Wall-y one but less cute.  I felt like it was a civic duty after having watched the lonely two seasons of this brilliant show and knowing now that there is a movement to get Netflix to take up a third season.  I ordered teal because I think it makes the print pop more than the other options available.  The fit is (for obvious reasons) a little tighter than the small male size but really just means it's a little shorter for my squat figure.  It clings a little to my hips but not horrendously.

Reading is Fantastic by JadaFitch

Details: Medium Female in White
This is clearly the tightest fit of the bunch and in this picture it gives me pot-belly vibes but I'm fine with having it to mix up the fits and I'll mostly wear it tucked in.  The print is what drew me in. It is a f***ing stunning design that calls to my nerdy fantasy crazed heart.

Be Who You Are Seuss Quote by BreakBoyArt

Details: XS Women's Relaxed Fit in Black with Back print
This was a bit of an 'impulse' purchase in that I'm not a huge Dr Suess fan but I saw it, loved it and waited until the sale to buy it.  In case you can't read the lettering it says "Be who you are And say what you feel Because those who mind don't Matter And those who Matter Don't mind.".  I was expecting this shirt to be a little looser (hence the relaxed fit) but it was my own stupid fault for ordering XS.  It fits like a regular tee on me.  The lettering is legible but I little hazy at the edges.

I love Dick - Robin Version by waerlogas

Details: S Unisex in Black
I was binging on Young Justice and thought it would be hilarious if I wore an 'I love Dick' shirt because the fangirling is dead on who I am but the sexual innuendo is a delightful contrast to my virginal status.  Lo and behold such a shirt does exist, so I bought it.  Oops.  The lettering is not extremely crisp but it is true to colour and certainly legible.  You can see the fit isn't ideal as it draws attention to my hips but its good enough for me.

I am too emotionally attached to fictional characters by FandomizedRose

Details: M Long Sleeve in Dark Blue
I ordered this design in long sleeved because every other shirt up until here is a short sleeved tee and it's winter in Australia so I figured it'd be a good move.  I love the yellowy-gold tones contrasted against the blue.  Again the lettering is a bit hazy but still acceptable.  Obviously the fit is ridiculous.  It is very long and the arms are the worst offender.  I ordered a medium to fit my bust but it is way long.  I will keep it as there are no better fits available, and wear it as a t-shirt dress with leggings beneath.

Both stores frequently have sales so make a wishlist and wait out until one comes on.  Both stores' fabric is soft and sturdy. I have washed all of the shirts with no problems.

I personally prefer the shirts I got from Teepublic as I feel the print is a little nicer and the fit more to my liking.  By no means are the Redbubble shirts bad and I understand I am somewhat at fault for ordering incorrect sizes.  Unfortunately finding your prefect size online ranges from tricky to impossible.  Most of the shirts were men's and as such they were a bit long.

One small gripe with Teepublic is that they offer more colours in men's shirts than women's which is specifically why I got those three men's from them.  I call you on your sexism.  Similarly Redbubble had different colours available for different fits and different fits and colours available for different designs.  I would love some more consistency across the options.

Final thought: I am happy with my choices.  They aren't all perfect but take online shopping with a grain of salt.  It isn't as though things always fit well in store anyway.  I won't be ordering again in the near future but I would be happy to down the line if I ever fell in love with different designs.

I hope that helped and inspired some nerds in the world to order silly, lovely tee shirts.  Have a great day,

Cassy
