QUICK TUTORIAL: Steel Blue MetalMatte
Alright, today I have another MetalMatte palette tutorial,
this time using the grey Stone and the lighter blue Ignite with a pop of Volt
on the lower lashline. If you’d like to
see how I did it and get some thoughts prior to the full review of this
palette, keep on reading.
First up I set my primer with Bone all over. I would normally use a flat shader to do this
and only on the upper crease area but for these shadows I prefer to completely
set my lid (maybe leaving a small portion of the outer corner tacky) using a
dense round top concealer brush.
After that I out down a little Suede to begin my
transitioning and went right into Stone with a small round crease brush. I liked this shade a fair bit, it’s one of
the better mattes (I’ve used most by now, they aren’t bad but they aren’t
perfect). I took this and packed it onto
the outer corner and gently swept it through the crease. I continued messing around, bringing it a
little higher and adding more depth as the look went on.
Next up I chose Ignite, a light blue with a bare hint of
aqua and packed it all over my lid with my finger (you don’t have to use
fingers but they go on quicker when you do).
Nearly finished I used a small brush to trail Volt, a warm
medium-deep purple onto my lower lashline and placed Femme Fatale Spearmint
Candy (a lilac base with aqua reflect) at my inner corner.
I finished by tightlining and adding mascara.
Later on I checked myself out again and realised the lower
lashline was too heavy for the upper so I put a tiny line and wing using
Physician’s Formula Eye Booster and it really evened it out. That’s an easy fix if you feel your eyes are
droopy or too dramatic below. You can
also blend a skin tone shadow over your work to mute and lighten the colour.
I hope someone got some enjoyment out of this week’s post, I’ll
be back again next week, probably with a final tutorial/GRWM for this palette
and then after that my final thoughts.
Cassy
