Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Foundation in Fair Beige

In Australia Tarte can only be bought at Sephora and you may find it's out of stock like most of Sephora's products.  Don't say I didn't warn you.  You can also purchase Tarte direct from their website or in Sephora or Ulta (I think) in the USA.  I'm not aware of other international stockists so please do your own searching there.

Let's get right on with my review of the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour foundation.  Per the title, my shade is Fair Beige which is a fairly good match for my skin, maybe a hair too dark (I am very pale).  The product is in a deep brown squeeze tube with a cute wooden screw top and a window down the side.  It contains 50ml/1.7fl oz., a bit larger than the 30ml, 1fl oz standard for foundations.

First I'm just going to show you my bare face and a comparison between my bare skin and a layer of foundation.  I always apply with a sponge, the one I use is the RealTechniques Miracle Complexion sponge, of course use what you're comfortable with.  It applies reasonably with a brush but I think it makes my skin look more textured.

It can be built up a little, which I've done below to cover redness and my undereyes.

This is my left side, your right, finished.  You can see it gives a solid medium coverage but I can't personally call that full because I can still see discolouration.

Here I have it applied to both sides.  The texture is of a mousse and dries down well, not to a powder finish but matte none-the-less.  I actually like it a lot under my eyes because of this.

I always get oily in my T-Zone throughout the day so it definitely doesn't stay matte but it stays on without fading for a good 7 hours on me (Combination skin).

OVERALL: 7/10 Little to no oil control, starts with a matte finish and wears well.  Medium, slightly buildable coverage.  Reasonable colour match for me.  Certainly one of the better foundations I've tried but I'll keep searching for 'the one'.
